Assassin's Creed Mirage - Digital Artbook

Challenge Artbooks reflect the creative and artistic work that studios put into their games, and are often included digitally in collector’s editions. Character designs, research, notes… it's always a treat for any fan to see the creative process behind their favourite titles. To celebrate the work of game artists, writers and designers, our challenge was to go beyond what a physical artbook can offer. We wanted to use the digital space to create an immersive experience for players to enjoy anywhere.

Our approach Our solution needed to be immersive, easy to use and accessible from anywhere.

Diving into the game Users can explore the artbook within a 3D environment, and fully immerse themselves in the game’s atmosphere. Recreating familiar in-game locations, we can also include a few easter eggs that could be discovered along the way as they navigate the artbook. To add to the experience, the digital artbook included the game’s soundtrack and SFX (crowd noise, waves, etc.) that were triggered depending on the chapter or the pictures.

Behind the scenes We created a clean and simple UI and UX that was fully aligned with the game’s art direction, allowing the audience to navigate the artbook and soundtrack with ease. By linking to a studio/publisher’s API, a security gate could also be added to ensure that only collector’s edition owners could access the experience.

A memorable experience Whether viewed on TV, laptop or mobile device, having a digital artbook on a website is a great, innovative way for fans to engage with the dedication and craft behind a game’s creation.
